Da Bangkok a Milano – Gli studenti internazionali di Relational Design

Questa è la storia di Nuphap Aunyanuphap, volato da Bangkok a Milano per seguire il nostro master.  Buona lettura.

Nuphap in three words

Visuals, Machines, Dreams.
My name is Nuphap Aunyanuphap and I’m from Bangkok, Thailand. I’m 26 years old and I was born in a Thai-Chinese family with three brothers. My parents have influenced my life in many ways, but mostly on how to be a good and respectful person.

Passions that I have developed since childhood

Since I was a child I have always been able to spend countless hours drawing robots and assembling legos. I like very much to make and do things.
Growing up, I began to like very much playing video games (I still do). However, I later discovered that this passion strongly influenced me to be engaged with the digital and multimedia realm, something I found quite useful later in my career.

From architecture to communication

The passion to make and do things led me to study architecture at university, where I had a great time learning about design and architectural topics and also doing projects. However, while studying, I also got very much into communication, always trying to find new ways to make and communicate things: I made presentations and diagrams, I joined an end-of-year publication team, I designed posters… Then, after graduating and working for a while in the architecture field, I convinced myself to do what I knew I was passionate about the most: making projects and communication. After that, I’ve practiced infographics and information design for three years, something I found extremely challenging yet super rewarding.

Master Relational Design: an ideal opportunity for design graduates and for people who want to improve their relational and management skills

After three years of doing so, I decided that it was time to go further and explore the boundaries of communication. And with the great advice of my professor back in Thailand, I was introduced to Relational Design, a course that provided me with the great opportunity to take my interests further and to meet a lot of new interesting people and professionals.
I think Relational Design’s online/offline teaching method is a great way to train us to be professional designers in the current working environment. Its strength – which is also a challenge – is that we can manage our time in a way that allows us to follow the online part of the courses while we work.
It is here that we have to learn how to manage our energy in order to acquire new skills and learn new things (specifically, a new topic for each module) and to develop ourselves – a very important discipline required in this ever changing world.

During the master there are funny moments too!

During the visual storytelling course I got the opportunity to analyze a student’s pinterest moodboard and, viceversa, one of my colleagues made my characterization sheet. It was so funny!
I think it partially reflected my personality: some aspects were spot-on, others weren’t. I think the way we see ourselves and the way other people see us are of course different (which is super interesting!). However, she did manage to catch the keywords of “dreams” and “possibilities”, which are things that match very well what I think of myself.

My favorite social network?

Even though Facebook is what I use the most (since everyone is using it for everything), my favorite social network is Instagram. The main reason is that it tells the story of someone/something mainly through photos and visuals. There is not so much else to see, but I think that’s beauty of it. Also, as a visual designer, I like to play (and do research) with its constraints and possibilities. Great fun!
